Meet Julieann: Your guide to unforgettable journeys

My journey into travel

I was born and raised in Brooklyn, and I think my love of travel started long before I ever had a passport. When I was growing up, my parents would plan short getaways — the kind we could drive to — and those trips taught me that even a few days away could feel exciting, restorative, and memorable. My first plane ride was from New York to New Orleans when I was 15, and I still remember the feeling of realizing just how big and interesting the world really was.

Curiosity and connection

I have always been curious by nature — a reader, a learner, a traveler, a horse lover, and someone who loves discovering the story behind a place. My life has taken me from Brooklyn to classrooms, horse farms, river cruises, retreats, and even to Japan as a Fulbright teacher. I am also married to a ship captain, so travel, logistics, and life in motion are very much part of my everyday world.

From educator to travel advisor

Before becoming a travel advisor, I spent years as an educator, and teaching gave me skills I use every day with my clients: listening carefully, planning, budgeting, and working with groups.

Julieann set up an amazing ride for me in early November in the heart of Tuscany, Italy! For five days I was able to stay at an amazing privately owned castello and ride in the rolling hills and forests that followed the old brigand paths. I would 100% recommend reaching out to Julieann for any of your horse vacation inquiries!

A delighted client

Julieann understands the solo explorer!

" I recently returned from a two-week trip to Italy and Sicily in June that was organized By Journeys by Julieann. This was a big trip for me in both time and cost. Also, I had never traveled fully solo before.

This trip was a dream come true!

I reached out to her for questions about planning my trip well over a year ahead of my dates. We met a few times over the course of the year to discuss what my trip could look like and to organize payments and details.

I had some definite points of interest in mind because of my family connection to Italy. The travel company included all of my requests with some minor edits. It was perfect!
